Author: Friday is Cake Night
Serves: 12
- 6 full sized chocolate bars cut in half and frozen. I used Mars
- ¾ cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 small egg or half large
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup plus 1 tbsp. milk
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- Oil for deep frying, I used enough for 2 inches on the bottom of my pan.
- Wooden skewers or coffee stir sticks
- chocolate sauce and powdered sugar - optional
- Cut the chocolate bars and freeze solid.
- Combine all the batter ingredients and whisk until smooth.
- Heat the oil to 375 degrees in a dutch oven or cast iron skillet.
- Drop the frozen chocolate bars into the batter and turn to coat.
- Fry in small batches, about 30 seconds per side.
- Drain on a paper towel
- Insert wooden sticks into the bars, drizzle with chocolate sauce and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
If the batter appears too thick, add a splash more milk.
