Ingredients
  • 6 full sized chocolate bars cut in half and frozen. I used Mars
For the batter
  • ¾ cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 small egg or half large
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup plus 1 tbsp. milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • Oil for deep frying, I used enough for 2 inches on the bottom of my pan.
  • Wooden skewers or coffee stir sticks
  • chocolate sauce and powdered sugar - optional
Instructions
  1. Cut the chocolate bars and freeze solid.
  2. Combine all the batter ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  3. Heat the oil to 375 degrees in a dutch oven or cast iron skillet.
  4. Drop the frozen chocolate bars into the batter and turn to coat.
  5. Fry in small batches, about 30 seconds per side.
  6. Drain on a paper towel
  7. Insert wooden sticks into the bars, drizzle with chocolate sauce and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Notes
If the batter appears too thick, add a splash more milk.
